Xiao Qiang lives with his grandparents in a Chinese mountain village. One afternoon, while playing by the river, he hears a motorbike and runs to hide in the forest, where he gets lost. Late at night, he comes upon a Buddhist temple where he’ll experience something that will lead him to make the first important decision of his life.
“Xiao Qiang Had A Daydream is a story closely linked to my personal biography. My parents had migrated to Spain, fleeing precariousness and poverty. They left my brother behind in a Chinese village, where he lived until he was 12 years old. Over the years I lived with my parents in Spain, separated from my brother, I imagined his daily life in China, his orphanhood and loneliness. That was the starting point for this short film.”
