How can you live in the fiction of a model that’s not very liveable? How do you build a feeling of home in a place that’s not your own? Is the body itself the only place of rootedness and belonging? Four artists from different origins explore, in the plasticity of SUPER 8 film, their relationship with the city of Barcelona through themes of uprooting, corporeality and the dissonant contradiction between staying somewhere and going back home.
“For us, the city is a strange place that pushes us into a state of remaining distant. But at the same time, it captivates us. We’re four authors from different places (Colombia, Costa Rica, Galicia and a town in Maresme), who explore this relationship of uprooting from the city in our own bodies, with the contradiction between staying and returning constantly running through us. We explore the city as a contrivance. At the same time, we explore the intimate reasons for us to stay. An experimental piece where our visions of territory, uprooting and the body unfolds.”
